Welcome to Taunton Vale Shepherd Huts
Nestled in the heart of Taunton, Somerset, Taunton Vale Shepherd Huts is a trusted, independent builder guided by humble values and exceptional skill.
We believe in celebrating our local heritage through uncompromising craftsmanship, creating beautiful spaces that are built to last a lifetime.
Who we are
When you choose us, you aren’t dealing with a faceless production line. You will work directly with our owner and head craftsman, Bob Macdonald. Bob personally hand-makes every shepherd hut, taking the time to understand exactly what you need. From the first conversation to the final handover, he collaborates closely with every buyer to ensure your new hut is absolutely perfect for you.
As you can see from the sturdy iron wheels, custom windows, and bright interiors, right through to the welcoming decked entrances, we take immense pride in the details.
Built Your Way
We understand that every customer’s needs are different, which is why Bob offers three distinct paths for your shepherd hut journey:
-
Full-Kit Builds: The complete, turn-key service. We design, build, and finish your hut to the highest standard so it is ready to enjoy the moment it arrives.
-
Bespoke Projects: Have a completely unique vision? We love bringing custom ideas to life and will tailor every inch of the build to your exact specifications.
-
Self-Builds with Support: If you prefer to roll up your sleeves, we can supply the core structure and materials, alongside Bob’s expert advice and support to help you finish the job yourself.
No two shepherd hut projects are ever quite the same—every space, site, and idea comes with its own unique considerations. We believe the best way to start your journey is by asking as many questions as possible so you feel completely confident in your choices.
Honest Advice & Reliable Delivery
Adding a shepherd hut to your property is an exciting investment, but it can come with a few questions. Bob has extensive experience navigating planning permission requirements and is always happy to have a friendly, no-nonsense chat to point you in the right direction.
